Watcher of the Seals by Alsdale Watcher of the Seals by Alsdale
Thank you so much for the DD, guys--especially to king-of-angmar [link] for the concept/request/feedback, superfreak92 [link] for suggesting it as a DD, and Lyricanna [link] for featuring it.
Gosh, I'm just floored. I love you all.

This is Egwene al'Vere and Rand al'Thor from the book series The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.
................................................................................................

Please skim the following before using/reposting, thanks! [link]

This painting is a monster. Believe me, it's best viewed fullscreen. I would actually recommend downloading it to see it full-size (about poster-sized).

A request by king-of-angmar [link] inspired by the scene in Towers of Midnight in which Egwene is in Tel'aran'rhiod and sees the Dragon's Fang in the Rose Window alongside the Flame of Tar Valon.

Medium: Watercolor and ink
Time commitment: Don't ask. My day job misses me.

NOTE: Someone was kind enough to point out the similarity of my style to that of my favorite artist, Stephanie Pui-Mun Law [link]. I discovered her work very early in my development as an artist and it has strongly influenced my style over the years.
Most importantly, it looks like I accidentally took the dove-and-ribbon concept in this painting from her painting The Lovers [link] To the best of my knowledge, all the other symbolism in the piece is mine (though really it belongs to Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time). Obviously, no copyright infringement is intended. Go watch her and buy her prints and stuff!

Wheel of Time Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. This is a derivative work based on the book series, is not official, and was created for exclusively non-commercial purposes.

Watcher of the Seals by ~Alsdale is a vivid depiction of an amazing scene from the series. Symbolism, small details and careful attention to intricate patterns really draw the eye. ( Featured by Lyricanna )

This is astounding, I love the complexity of it and all the little details at the bottom.

Its fantastic.. Blown away by the first look..
But I seem to remember Egwene as being dark-haired.
And the White Tower is rather colorful.
Nice symbolism, otherwise.

Thanks!
I agree, Egwene's hair should be several shades darker. I got careless. I've fixed that in a new painting I'm working on.
I'm addicted to detail. I wanted the White Tower to have lots of stained glass windows. So it did turn out quite colorful, yes :)
